Bihar Institute of Economic Studies
(BIES) was established in the year 1990 by a group of eminent
economists and academicians, having expertise and rich experience in
their respective fields. MISSION: Social and Economic Empowerment of Disadvantaged Population Group. OBJECTIVES: BIES conducts Social Science Research and Evaluation, provides Consultancy on Developmental Issues, Design and Implement Action Programmes and Organises Seminars/Workshops on Socio-economic development. GEOGRAPHICAL AREA OF OPERATION: BIES has worked in the states of Bihar, Jharkhand, Assam, Sikkim, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. AREA OF RESEARCH AND ACTION: Over the past seventeen years, BIES has successfully completed several projects on Health, Population, Human Rights, Education, Rural Development, Watershed, Tribal Development and has carried Emergency Flood Relief. BIES has also conducted Workshop on Social Defence, Panchayati Raj, Land Reforms and Economic Development. PROJECT PARTNERS: BIES has in the past-received grant in aid from several ministries of the Government of India including the Planning Commission, Ministry of Rural Development, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, CAPART, Commission for Agricultural Costs and Prices, Govt. of India, Department of Human Resources Development, Govt. of Bihar, Rural Development Institute (USA) and Church’s Auxiliary for Social Action (CASA). |
